administration. Two co-chairs lead the program, which duties included volunteer management, recruiting, checking
curriculum, coordinating with teachers, budgeting and purchases, and working with the school to teach to

Created a class curriculum to teach adult students color theory, composition and painting skills.

  • Distance Learning:

Transferred Palo Alto Art Center teaching curricula to distance learning within two weeks of shutdown. Courses offered included Nature Sketching and Drawing Skills courses. Spring and Summer, 2020-2021.

  • Drawing and Painting for children:

An 18-hour drawing class to focus on exploration of drawing and painting processes and materials. Revamped an old curriculum to focus on free exploration and observation. 2018-2019.

  • Paper Art and Engineering:

Redesigned six-week, 18 hour paper course to shift away from pre-determined craft projects into a process-oriented art exploration class. Created new projects, and streamlined old ones. 2016.

  • Drawing for Adults:

Created a 9 week course that surveys basic skills. Emphasis is placed on observation and accurate drawing. Students are introduced to proportional drawing, perspective, mass vs. line drawing, ellipses, figure and portrait drawing, and values and shape drawing. Designed for adults. 2016-2018.

  • Paper Art and Engineering at Stevenson PACT Elementary:
Designed a six week, 18 hour course that explores the artistic and engineering aspects of paper. The course includes units on paper-making, collage, origami, sculpture, pop-up engineering, and book building. The course runs with 24 students of mixed ages- kinder through fifth grade.

These adult workshops introduce new media to the students. The series includes
encaustics, oil paints, pastels, watercolor, mixed media and collage, and acrylic paints. Each workshop
also offers a skills lesson in addition to a materials experience, such as an exercise in composing paintings,
    or creating clean colors. 2016-2017.

  • Daily Painting Practice. Palo Alto Art Center.
This workshop series emphasizes direct, alla prima painting style that yields colorful paintings with a simple
method. The purpose of this workshop is to help students paint early and often, creating paintings in rapid
succession and learning quickly from each painting. Spring and Fall quarters, 2015-2016.
