Drawing Gym again

 

Welcome to The Drawing Gym!

The Drawing Gym is an afternoon filled with good ideas.  Short exercises will help students progress though the basic skills of drawing well.  Classes can be tailored or designed to fit the interests of your students.   This class is designed to help people draw in proportion.  Please check out my Drawing Zone Workshop for practical application to painting in particular.

 

Standard Drawing exercises: 

  • Benchmark drawing
  • Trig drawing for better proportions
  • Durer's Window: a demonstration of how to convert 3D world to 2D paper. 
  • Perspective drawing 
  • Negative and Positive Space
  • Mass vs. Line drawing and how they are related. 
 

Materials needed: 

  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Pencil
  • Eraser, maybe

Studio equipment needed:

Tables and chairs, easels are very welcome.  One of the exercises requires students to work on a vertical or semi-vertical surface.
